IN THE BEGINNING

These reunions all began in the 1950s when we who were around at that time would gather at "home"

Remember???

on the weekend nearest to Daddy's birthday in June of each year. Those were great times and Mama and Daddy seem to enjoy them so much.

     This continued until Mama and Daddy passed away in 1968, after which we just continued to gather on this same weekend at various places until we finally settled on the George Bagby State Park on the Chattahoochee River. north of Ft. Gaines, Georgia.

"Like a child in wild anticipation"

    I always look forward to these occasions, renewing acquaintances, seeing the children grow up, and the old grow older .

      It is interesting to see how much everyone changes from year to year and yet, except for an addition or two or another vacant place, things seem to remain relatively unchanged.

     Even though we all have our own lives to live, raising a family, pursuing a career, doing volunteer work or just enjoying a well earned retirement, it's great to take the time once a year to attend the reunion.

     Some of us come only a few miles and some, a great distance, but the miles are of no consequence when we realize we are honoring two such loving people in our parents, grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents, etc. :

Jack Brooks was working this day so he and wife, Mary, with their grandson visited us at the motel Saturday night. Great to see them.
Wanda Stanley was visiting her mother in Edison that day so she did not sign the roster. We all enjoyed being with her at the motel on Saturday.

Jack Brooks was on duty as a Deputy Sheriff, consequently, he and Mary could not come to the reunion on Sunday. But they did visit those staying at the motel on Saturday night. We enjoyed their visit. Hopefully they can attend the reunion next year.
This was the best attended reunion in several years. Forty four signed the roster This is great. Thirty attended each of the last two years. Mr. Jim and Mrs. Lonie would be proud to know that their decedents still are close. Mark your calendar, June 19, 2005, and lets do it again next year.

For the third time since 1950 I could not attend Daddy's birthday party or the reunion. The first time was when I was in the Navy. I had a commanding officer who was a donkey's a... and turned down my request for leave. The second time was just after a knee replacement and the third time was also for medical reasons. Hopefully this will be last for many years. We missed seeing everyone, especially, the young growing up. *Gordon* . I know that Mama and Daddy would by proud to know that their decedents still enjoy and make the extra effort to get together once a year. And take it from one who knows, they well deserve all the recognition they get.
