THE CALHOUN COUNTY NEWS December 21, 1939 SALEM RITES HELD THURSDAY FOR MR. M. L.
HOLLOWAY The funeral services of Mr. Marion L. Holloway, 69, well-known Calhoun County farmer, who died suddenly Wednesday morning at his home on the Bluffton road, near here, was held Thursday morning of this week at 11 o'clock at the Salem Baptist Church, with his pastor, Rev. M. D. Brown, of Richland, officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Mr. Holloway was stricken about 8:30 Wednesday morning with a heart attack and died immediately. The deceased was the son of the late Mr. Christopher C. Holloway and the late Mrs. Sara Cobb Holloway who died last October. Born and reared in Calhoun County, he lived here all his life and leaves a wide circle of friends and relatives in this section who morn his passing. He has been for any years a consistent member of the Salem Baptist Church, with which he united at an early age,. He was loved and highly respected by his neighbors, and by all was known as a good and honest man. He was a fine citizen of Calhoun County. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Eula Pounds of Attapulgus: a daughter, Mrs. Charlie Hardage Of Shellman, A son, little Hansel Holloway of Edison. By a former wife, the late Mrs. Alice Lewis Holloway, he is survived by two sons, Mr. Aubrey Holloway of Albany, and Mr. Will Holloway of Edison: three daughters, Mrs., Jim Brooks, Mrs. G. G. Stevens, and Mrs. Roy Fellows, all of Edison; a brother, Arthur Holloway, and a sister, Mrs. W. E. Lewis, both of Edison. A number of grandchildren also survive. The family has the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.
