"McGLAMERY" Genealogical sources state that the earliest known McGlamery immigrated to America from Northern Ireland. The early American McGlamerys settled in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. Revolutionary War Soldier John McGlamery was born in Maryland around 1754. By 1802 he had relocated to Warren County, Georgia. In March of 1826 he made his application for pension in which the following children were mentioned: Leara, Simeon, Jeptha, Newton, Jasper, and Jimsey (James). One other known sibling of the children was Tilman McGlamery, who was born around 1830. By 1830 the family had relocated again to Crawford County, Georgia and by 1850 all of the boys were in Macon County, Georgia. By 1860 James and Jasper had settled in Taylor County, Georgia and Simeon had moved his family back to Crawford County, Georgia. The other McGlamerys had remained in Macon County. After the war, Simeon and his family were living in Houston County, Georgia. Simeon, his wife, and the majority of their children relocated again to another county in Georgia. This time they made their home in Blakley, Early County, Georgia where Simeon served as the constable of the justice court for several terms. Simeon and his wife Martha McDowell moved a final time to live with their daughter Catherine McGlamory Shirah Hancock in Smith County, Texas. Simeon and Martha both died in Smith County a few years after their arrival and were buried in Elkins Cemetery outside of Arp, Texas. Nearby rests their daughter Catherine, her second husband, and a handful of descendants. Many of Simeon's brothers remained in the area around Macon County, except for Tilman and his family. They moved to Worth County, Georgia where Tillman, his wife, and several children were constituting lay members of the United Free Will Baptist Church in June of 1890. Some allied families: Adams, Anderson, Green, McGee, Page, Roberts, Taylor, and Underwood." Children of BALAAM BROOKS and MARY MCGLAMMERY are:

I think once hooked,
it's hard to break the addiction.
he moved to Crawford county. At
least I think he moved directly to Crawford. There was
nothing exciting in
these minutes about Balaam.
They only
show that he was there and that
he was active.
