This is raw data I CCPed from the internet. It is accurate to the best of my knowledge. Some is a repeat of previous data on John Brooks' page. New data on the McGlamerys (Balaam's wife) and Balaam Brooks' Grandfather, John Brooks, Jr. and his wife's (Jane May) family.

Balaam Brooks was probably a grandson of John Brooks, JR and Jane May. Balaam has a son named Balaam; and he has a grandson named Balaam via his son, John D. Brooks.

TIMELINE BALAAM BROOKS Abt. 1782: Birth in Georgia, and died in Georgia.

11 Aug 1802: Marriage to Mary McGlammery in Warren County, Georgia. She was born in Maryland, and died in Georgia.

1820 U.S. Federal Census - Walton, Georgia

Notes for BALAAM BROOKS:

Balaam Brooks has been linked as a son to John Brooks Jr. and Jane May. I believe that he is a grandson. He was born in 1782 in Georgia which is seven years after John Brooks Jr. was deceased (according to Micajah's Pension 'Application.)

Joel Brooks 10001||010011
These are probably son's of Balaam and the 40/50 female may be his mother who was at his home when census person came around I tried to make this post earlier and made a mistake, so there is another post floating around somewhere.

Notes for MARY MCGLAMERY:

This is info furnished by John McGlamery on Genforum.............

"McGLAMERY"

Genealogical sources state that the earliest known McGlamery immigrated to America from Northern Ireland. The early American McGlamerys settled in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia. Revolutionary War Soldier John McGlamery was born in Maryland around 1754.

By 1802 he had relocated to Warren County, Georgia. In March of 1826 he made his application for pension in which the following children were mentioned: Leara, Simeon, Jeptha, Newton, Jasper, and Jimsey (James). One other known sibling of the children was Tilman McGlamery, who was born around 1830.

By 1830 the family had relocated again to Crawford County, Georgia and by 1850 all of the boys were in Macon County, Georgia. By 1860 James and Jasper had settled in Taylor County, Georgia and Simeon had moved his family back to Crawford County, Georgia. The other McGlamerys had remained in Macon County.

After the war, Simeon and his family were living in Houston County, Georgia. Simeon, his wife, and the majority of their children relocated again to another county in Georgia. This time they made their home in Blakley, Early County, Georgia where Simeon served as the constable of the justice court for several terms. Simeon and his wife Martha McDowell moved a final time to live with their daughter Catherine McGlamory Shirah Hancock in Smith County, Texas.

Simeon and Martha both died in Smith County a few years after their arrival and were buried in Elkins Cemetery outside of Arp, Texas. Nearby rests their daughter Catherine, her second husband, and a handful of descendants. Many of Simeon's brothers remained in the area around Macon County, except for Tilman and his family. They moved to Worth County, Georgia where Tillman, his wife, and several children were constituting lay members of the United Free Will Baptist Church in June of 1890. Some allied families: Adams, Anderson, Green, McGee, Page, Roberts, Taylor, and Underwood."

Thanks so much! I will contact him and see if he is still interested in genealogy.

I think once hooked, it's hard to break the addiction.

I have recently read the Walton Co GA Superior court Minutes from its creation until about 1850.
Balaam Brooks moved there in the early 1820's and remained there until about 1828 when

he moved to Crawford county. At least I think he moved directly to Crawford.  There was

nothing exciting in

these minutes about Balaam.  They only

show that he was there and that he was active.

Thanks again,
Lindy
