WAS BURIED SUNDAY


Miss Belle Brooks, who died from a heart attack about 12:30 last Sunday morning after an illness of four days was buried Sunday Afternoon at 6 o'clock at Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church with elders W. I. Kelly and S. W. Etheridge of Ozark, Alabama conducing the last rites. Internment followed in the Mars Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Earl Lee, Wallace Lee, W. C. Brooks, Thomas Brooks, Marcine Brooks, and Troy Brooks.

The deceased lived at the home of her nephew, Mr. Luther J. Brooks, and enjoyed a wide circle of friend in this section. Born in Randolph county she lived all her life in Randolph and Clay
counties.

She would have been ninety three on August 15 had she lived. She was a member of the Mars Hill Baptist church and lived a consistent Christian life.

Her survivors include five nephews, L. J. Brooks, Tommy Brooks, Arthur Brooks, Jim Brooks, of Edison and Olen Brooks, of Blakely and four nieces, Mrs. R. H. Lee and Miss. Lonie Brooks, of Edison, Mrs. Erie Holloway of Blakely and Mrs. Annie Everett of Shellman.

AUNT BELLE BROOKS

CELEBRATED 90th BIRTHDAY

August 15, 1940



Aunt Belle Brooks celebrated her 90th birthday Thursday, August 15, at the home of Mr. L. J. Brooks where a large crowd of friends and relatives gathered to congratulate her. At noon dinner was spread under the pecan trees in the large shady yard.


Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Rufus H. Lee, Lonie Brooks, Alleen Lee, Ada Cromartie, Elizabeth Watkins, Mr. and Mrs. R. Earnest Lee, Earline,  Carolyn,  Joan and Bill Lee, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Lee, Annette, James, Jean and Doris Lee, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Lee, John Ernest, Louise, Winnie and Fred Lee, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Brooks, John and Bobby Brooks............(rest of article missing).
